                                                 Good Title Tags


The title tag is the single most important piece of SEO real estate on your site. A title tag can be as long as you want, but you only have about 63 characters before the search engines cut it off. So use it wisely.Since the title appears as the clickable link in the SERPs pages it has to be able to meet a couple of different demands.

Unlike the meta keywords tag, the meta description
is used more by search engines.Google seems to use
it as a quick check to determine duplicity of pages, which
is something you want to prevent. If a search engine thinks
a page is aduplicate of another page, you may lose positions
as a result.Heretoo,focus is the goal.Just like you have focused
the title and the meta keywordstag on the same keywords, 
the meta description also has to focus on the same keywords. 
Here are some simple rules to follow:                                                                    
Every page needs a unique                                                                                               
meta description
Write real text and not a list of keywords                                                                                 
Describe what the content of the page is about                                                                               
try to repeat the main keywords 2 or 3 times                                                                                  
Around 180 characters in total                                                                                                
Don’t use texts like: “This page is about… “, but rather go for
a (very) shortversion of the content of the page. The title will
help you with that.Apractical way of doing this is to grab some
snippets from the content andcombine those into a short vers-
ion of the content of the page.180 characters is just a guideline
There is no problem with a description of 220characters if you
can’t get it any shorter than that. At the same time, thereare
pages that just don’t have much to write about. A simple 
contact page forexample does not require a long description.
Here too, spend time on the descriptions of each individual 
page. It’s important tofocus all parts on the same subject. 
For many people this is the more boringwork of SEO, but it’s
very important to do it right. In the worse case I would suggest
to have an employee do it for you.

                       Role of Meta Keywords

This tag is abused by those who don’t understand SEO. In some
sites you will find lists of hundreds of words and short phrases
in this tag with pretty much all the words that can be found in
the whole website. That’s the exact opposite of what this tag is
meant for.One of the most important points in SEO is focus. Opti-
mization in many ways is just a matter of focusing: In this case,
focusing a page on 1 specific subject. Therefore the meta
keywords tag needs only a couple of words that are focused on
the content of the page.Here are some simple rules for the meta
keywords tag:                                                                                                                 
No more than 5 words or short phrases                                                                                         
Separate with comma’s                                                                                                         
Same focus as in the title                                                                                                    
The meta keywords tag is not very important.Google for example
claims they don’t use it at it all. Yet it is not a bad thing to use
in your web pages. Just don’t put a lot of work in them. It’s most
ly just a short list of words that you use in the title and some
variations of those words, like plurals.
